Algeria: Towards the launch of a large-scale natural carbon storage project

Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab said Algeria plans to “launch a vast natural carbon storage project by planting 420 million trees over 10 years, with an estimated investment of one billion dollars,” which aims to reduce emissions by 7 to 22 percent by 2030, and reduce the total volume of gas burned to less than 1 percent, according to the official agency.
