The Kingdom of Jordan’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zaina Touqan, and the World Bank’s Regional Director for the Middle East, Jean-Christophe Carret, yesterday signed an agreement for a $250 million loan for the implementation of the Jordan Water Sector Modernisation Project.
This was reported by the Jordanian state broadcaster ‘Al Mamlaka’, stating that the financing includes USD 200 million to be disbursed in the form of a soft loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (Bird, a World Bank-owned organisation) and USD 50 million to be disbursed in the form of a grant provided by the Fund for Global Facilitated Financing (Ffag, also managed by the World Bank), which provides concessional financing to middle-income countries hosting large numbers of refugees.
