Business Mission in Bahrain
|
The Joint Italian Arab Chamber of Commerce is proud to have led the Business Mission in Bahrain, paving the way to leading Italian companies such as AlmavivA S.p.A., Impresa Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A., Salini Impregilo, SACE, Sudelettra S.p.A. and Trevi Group. The mission, led by JIACC President Mr. Cesare Trevisani, was an excellent occasion to discover and discuss top business opportunities with high-level institutional and private counterparts. Throughout the mission we also promoted Italy as a strategic partner for the implementation of Bahrain Vision 2030, which will feature infrastructure mega projects, as well as other significant projects in real estate, manufacturing and logistics. Finally, the mission confirmed JIACC as a reliable promoter of Bahrain in Italy, opening up new opportunities for future official collaborations. For example, JIACC officially invited in Italy H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Ahmed Sultan Al-Khalifa, Undersecretary for Agriculture & Marine Resources of Bahrain, to visit agriculture and agribusiness companies for investment prospects and partnerships. We would like to thank H.E. Zayed bin Rashid al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, H.E. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning, , Mr. Simon Galpin, Managing Director of the Bahrain EDB, Ms. Nada Yousif Latif Deen from the Ministry of Transportation & Telecomunication and all other Bahraini counterparts for having received us and for having contributed to the success of this mission. A special thanks goes to the Ambassador of Italy in Bahrain, H.E. Domenico Bellato and to H.E. Sameer Nass, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry for their invaluable support.

We had the honor to meet with H.E. Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Bahrain,who was present as Keynote Speaker in the 2017 First Italian-Arab Business Forum, leading the official delegation of Bahrain. After carefully listening to the presentation of Italian companies part of the delegation, the Minister clearly presented the Bahrain Vision 2030 and the role Italian companies can play in the implementation of the the national's Vision. The Minister called for an increase of cross-investments as a tool for stronger economic ties, underlining the strategic role of Bahrain as a first-class regional and international hub. The Minister also mentioned as an example of cooperation the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, an event gathering together thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers from more than 170 countries, to be held this year in Bahrain.

The business delegation also met with H.E. Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning and then with Ms. Nada Yousif Latif Deen, Assistant Undersecretary to Land Transportation. The meetings provided the chance to focus on the new infrastructures to be built in the country, such as the Bahrain Metro or the new Bahrain-KSA Causeway. Also in these occasions, the companies had the opportunity to present their technical know-how.

Our delegation met with Mr. Simon Galpin, Managing Director of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, the institution responsible for attracting foreign investments in the country. The meeting was particularly fruitful because it allowed to focus on important technical details about conducting business in Bahrain.

Business Mission in Saudi Arabia
|
Part of the delegation continued to Saudi Arabia, second Italy's Arab commercial partner and the main Arab economy. A welcoming event was organized by H.E. Luca Ferrari, Ambassador of Italy to Saudi Arabia, whom we thank for the great support. The welcoming event provided us with the chance to present the Chamber to local entrepreneurs interested in doing business with Italy.

JIACC was further received by Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) in order to address the organization of the Saudi-Italian Business Forum, to be held in Milan the 18th/19th of June 2019. The CSC confirmed its full support to the Chamber and agreed to promote the event, stating that the Forum will represent a great moment for Saudi-Italian economic relations. Ms. Rossella Rossi, Head of the Economic & Commercial Office of the Italian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, participated with our delegation.

The mission ended with a meeting with the Saudi Arabia General Investment Authority (SAGIA), the institution responsible for following up and assessing investment opportunities, alleviating the difficulties encountered by investors, conducting studies and research and drafting executive plans to stimulate local attractiveness. This was a good opportunity for the delegation to discover the latest economic opportunities and to receive first-hand technical information about the business climate in the Kingdom. SAGIA also confirmed its involvement and support for the Saudi-Italian Business Forum, to be held in Milan the 18th/19th of June 2019.

Business Mission in the UAE

Finally, JIACC President Mr. Cesare Trevisani, with JIACC Vice Presidents Mr. Pietro Paolo Rampino and Mr. Ahmed Al Midfa, and Ms. Domitilla Gacci, Head of Rome Office, ended the mission in the United Arab Emirates, one of Italy's most important Arab commercial partners and Guest Country of the 2018 Second Italian Arab Business Forum. This last part of the business trip provided the opportunity to follow-up on the Second-Italian Business Forum, held in Rome the 17 October 2018. A special thank goes to H.E. Liborio Stellino, Ambassador of Italy to the United Arab Emirates, for his continuous support to our activities.

H.E. Sultan Bin Said Al Mansoori received our delegation to discuss future economic cooperation initiatives between Italy and the United Arab Emirates, facilitated by the recent promulgation of the new Foreign Investment Law. The Minister proposed a series of projects that could create mutual benefits and stronger economic relations. It was also the occasion to address the organization of Roadshows in Italy about UAE's economy, aiming to pave the way towards the Dubai Expo 2020. These Roadshows, organized by JIACC in continuity with the Second Italian Arab Business Forum, would promote the UAE in several main Italian cities.

JIACC also had the chance to meet with Mr. Massimo Falcioni, CEO of the Etihad Credit Insurance, UAE national credit insurance agency. President Trevisani and Mr. Falcioni discussed the need to provide adequate financial tools to companies interested in investing in the UAE. The meeting was also an occasion to underline the need for more collaboration between our institutions.

Mission to Jordan and Lebanon (April 2019)JIACC is organizing a Business Mission to Jordan and Lebanon, to take place in the month of April, in order to address business opportunities in these two countries. The Mission will revolve around several selected sectors and will be supported by local public and private commercial institutions.

Saudi-Italian Business Forum (18/19 June 2019)The Saudi-Italian Business Forum will be held in June 2019 (18th or 19th) in Milan, Assolombarda headquarters. This important event will represent a perfect occasion to address the biggest Arab economy and the second Arab commercial partner of Italy. A must-attend event for all the companies interested in Saudi-Italian economic relations, worth in 2017 a total of 7.3 billion EUR in commercial exchanges.
